Ganiev, Deputy Prime Minster of Uzbekistan Visit to Korea
On March 27th 2019, Mr. Elyor Majidovich GANIEV, Deputy Prime Minster of Investment & Foreign Economic Relations of the Rep of Uzbekistan visited Korea. In January, the Tashkent Region signed an MOU with the Incheon IFZ (Free Economic Zone) to activate the Angren Free Economy Zone, and promised detailed mutual support and efforts for the city's strategic development with Mr. Kim Jin Yong, President of Incheon IFZ right after meeting with Mrs. Kang Kyung Hwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea.
Uzbekistan is expanding the relation exchange as a role model of Incheon FEZ. Uzbekistan opened Korea-Uzbekistan Business Center last November ininternational city of Songdo for the pursuit of both country’s economic exchange and the investment attraction for the economy free zone development , and Mr. Kim Chang Keon (Currently: Advisor to Prime Minster of the Rep of Uzbekistan on Trade & Investment Cooperation) was appointed the first Chairman for the business center. Opening the business center is the first time in Incheon City as most of global business centers are located in Seoul. Uzbekistan is pushing ahead with the development of free economy zone after the inauguration of Mr.Shavkat Mirziyoyev. Uzbekistan government has concluded the MOU of 4 different Regions with Incheon FEZ including Namangan Region this year. It was also conclude with Bukhara Region last March and with Ferghana Region last July. Especially for the project of free economy zone development in Uzbekistan with Incheon FEZ Mr. Kim Chang-Keon his role has been contributed very big as a bridgehead on both country’s diplomatic activities, and he promised to continue racing for economic development through friendly cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Ganiev finally had a meeting with both Mr. Han Sung Kwon, President of Hyundai Commercial Vehicle, and Mr. Kim Chang Keon, Chairman of Korea-Uzbekistan Business Center. During the meeting Mr. Ganiev asked for the active promotion of Hyundai Commercial Vehicle (KD) Plant, which has completed the groundbreaking ceremony in Uzbekistan and in particular, he discussed the establishment of an electric vehicle production plant in Uzbekistan and the expansion of infrastructure. Mr. Han Sung Kwon also mentioned that KD project is now in process step by step, and promised to review actively for the advance to Uzbekistan as the project of electric vehicle is also core strategic business in Hyundai group for the future.
Ahead of back to Uzbekistan on 29th (Fri), Mr. Ganiev visited Korea-Uzbekistan Business Center to thank Mr. Kim Chang Keon for his dedication as bridgehead during his visit. He also asked for his continuous efforts in order for the economic development of Uzbekistan through both country’s exchange, and he promised to give active support.
