On December 11, an event was held at the State Administration of the Syrdarya Region (Uzbekistan), during which the city of Pyeongtaek (Gyeonggi-do) donated computers and printers (worth 100 million KRW) to 12 primary, middle and high schools in the Syrdarya region. 


Since the signing of the City of Friendship and Cooperation Agreement between the city of Pyeongtaek and the Syrdarya region in 2021, active exchanges and economic cooperation have been ongoing between the two cities, including the visit of Mayor Jong Jang Sun to Uzbekistan and the visit of the governor of the Syrdarya region Gafurjon Ganievich Mirzaev to Korea, and also, based on in-depth consultations with the city council, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Korea and the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Association, the Pyeongtaek City Hall was able to provide a valuable opportunity to provide advanced IT training to students in the Syrdarya region, including computer and printing equipment. 


It is expected that, starting from this donation ceremony, there will be more active exchanges and economic cooperation between the city of Pyeongtaek and the Syrdarya region in the future, which will also contribute to the further development of friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Uzbekistan. 


On behalf of the city of Pyeongtaek (Mayor Jong Jang Song), the first deputy chairman of the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Association, Mr. Kim Chang Keon, who is a policy adviser to the city of Pyeongtaek, was present at the donation ceremony and made a congratulatory speech, and in the Sirdarya region at the ceremony the regional governor, Mr. Akmaljon Azimjonovich Makhmudaliev, and other key figures from the regional government, as well as directors and staff of various schools, were present. 


In his greeting, the governor of the Syrdarya region, Mr. Akmaljon Azimjonovich Makhmudaliev, expressed special gratitude to the mayor of the city of Pyeongtaek, Jong Jang Sun, the residents of the city of Pyeongtaek, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Korea and the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Association, in turn, Mr. Kim Chang Keon, first deputy chairman, welcomed the directors of each of the 12 schools in the Syrdarya region who received donated computers, and asked them to make special efforts to educate their students in the field of information technology.
