On 24 April, Kim Chang Keon, Chairman of the Association’s Board of Directors, visited Tashkent State Technical University named after Islam Karimov (TSTU) and held in-depth discussions with the university’s leadership on ways to expand educational cooperation between the two countries. During the visit, Chairman of the Board of Directors Kim Chang Keon and Rector Sadriddin Turobjonov exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between the two institutions and the implementation of specific joint projects.

The parties focused their discussion on ways to take cooperation with Korean higher education institutions to a new level and specifically identified the main areas of cooperation and priority tasks. Particular attention was paid to cooperation with Kwangwoon University, which was identified as a key priority, and in-depth discussions took place, including on the implementation of joint educational programmes.

In addition, the parties reached a basic agreement on strengthening academic cooperation through the expansion of staff and student exchanges, as well as on the implementation of joint research projects, which is expected to further strengthen the academic network between the two countries. Furthermore, a wide-ranging discussion took place on various opportunities for cooperation, including the establishment of a Korean Language Centre at TSTU, the introduction of advanced educational technologies, and the expansion of employment opportunities for students in Korea.

Meanwhile, it was agreed during the meeting that, in connection with the official visit of representatives from Kwangwoon University (the Chairman of the Board of Directors, the Rector, and others) in early May, the development of diverse cooperation between the two universities would continue. Tashkent State Technical University, with a history spanning more than 90 years, is one of the three leading state universities in Uzbekistan and the country’s top technical institution.
