Mr. Edward Kim, Chairman of the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Association (KUBA), visited UzAgro Holdings, a state-affiliated agricultural export organization under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and held a meeting with Mr. Anarbaev, the head of the organization, to discuss a wide range of issues related to agricultural exports and bilateral cooperation.
UzAgro Holdings was established in 2025 as a government-affiliated agricultural export organization with the aim of addressing various challenges arising from previously fragmented and insufficiently coordinated agricultural trade and distribution practices. Under centralized government oversight, the organization works directly with agricultural farms, producers, and relevant institutions throughout Uzbekistan, seeking to ensure consistent quality control of key agricultural products and to integrate and systematically manage their exports to overseas markets.
During the meeting, the two sides held in-depth discussions on practical ways to identify and select Uzbekistan’s key agricultural products, particularly high-quality fruits, and establish direct export channels to major Korean importers and distributors.
The discussions also covered a broader range of potential areas for cooperation, including the development of local agricultural farms and the establishment of an agricultural financial system modeled on Korea’s NongHyup system.
Both sides agreed to form a joint task force (TF) in the near future and to move forward with concrete discussions and implementation of the proposed projects.
The meeting marked an important step toward strengthening practical cooperation between Korea and Uzbekistan in the agricultural sector and establishing sustainable channels for the export of high-quality Uzbek agricultural products to the Korean market.
