Visit of the Korean Economic Delegation to Fergana Region

On June 12 2019, more than 50 Korean economic delegations took part in the economic forum hosted by the government of Fergana Region. The economic forum was organized by the Korea-Uzbekistan Business Center and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Korea, based on the invitation by the governor of Fergana Region, Mr. Shukhrat Ganiyev. During the forum, the chairman of the Korean-Uzbek Business Center, Mr. Kim Chang Keon (Currently: Adviser to Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Trade & Investment Cooperation) and the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Korea, Mr. Vitaliy Fen, gave speeches and expressed their gratitude to the Governor of Fergana Region.

 

The Korean economic delegation included representatives from various sectors, such as architecture, information technology, real estate, education, and hospital. 

Mr. Doniyor, director of foreign trade and investment in Fergana Region, gave detailed information on the state of the Fergana Region, such as its investment conditions and various tax and tariff benefits.

 

After the official forum, there were B2B and B2C meetings between the local companies and Korean economic delegation. Moreover, as a result of these meetings,  several MOUs were signed, which indicate mutual cooperation and active exchanges of information between the companies.

 

On the next day, the Korean economic delegation visited  KOKAND Free Economic Zone, which has the size of about 709 hectares. KOKAND Free Economic Zone is a special economic zone located on the borders of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Currently, more than 30 foreign companies have been investing and gradually expanding the industrial infrastructure in this region.
