Education Trends
 
1. The Senate approved amendments to the law on education (Gazeta.uz, 8.7)
 o On August 7, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan at the sixth plenary session approved the new version of the law "On Education". The document gives definitions to such concepts as a state educational institution, state educational standards, non-state educational organization, specialty, and others. The law determines that preschool education is a type of continuous education aimed at teaching and upbringing of children, their intellectual, spiritual, moral, ethical, aesthetic, and physical development, as well as preparing children for general secondary education.
 
2. A branch of the Chinese University of Traditional Medicine will open in Uzbekistan (Gazeta.uz, 8.24)
  o A branch of the Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (China) is planned to open in Uzbekistan. An agreement on this was reached on August 24 at a meeting of the Minister of Health Alisher Shadmanov with representatives of the university and the pharmaceutical company Beizhong Yilin Pharm Tech.
  ※ In June, Jiangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine opened the Sino-Uzbek Center for Traditional Medicine in Tashkent.

1. Alisher Shodmonov was given back the powers of Minister of Health (KUN, 8.21)
  ㅇ Through the efforts of doctors, Alisher Shodmonov recovered and continues his work as usual. It is noted that the minister was hospitalized in the republican specialized scientific and practical medical center of cardiology.
 
2. Indian Sharda Hospital plans to open a university clinic in Uzbekistan (Podrobno, 8.20)
ㅇ On August 20, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India Dilshod Akhatov met Vice President for International Relations of Shard University Ashok Daryani. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current activities and plans for the future of the university in Andijan. Within the framework of the negotiations, the issue of implementing an investment project to launch a university clinic on the basis of one of the medical universities of Uzbekistan with the participation of the multidisciplinary university clinic Sharda Hospital was discussed. Following the talks, Ashok Daryani said that a delegation led by President of Sharda University Pradeep Gupta is ready to visit Uzbekistan in September this year to discuss promising areas of cooperation.
 
3. Uzbekistan joined the COVID-19 vaccination program (Gazeta.uz, 8.25)
ㅇ Uzbekistan, as a current member of the Regional Office for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO / Europe), has joined the international mechanism for the development and distribution of a vaccine against the COVAX coronavirus.
 ※ More than 170 countries have joined the initiative of WHO and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) to establish the Global Fund for COVID-19 Vaccine Access (Covax Facility), which aims to ensure equitable access to coronavirus vaccines for all countries located at all levels of development and those willing to take part in it.
